In February 2021, detectives from the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Falcon Division began an investigation into the burglary of a storage unit in the 4200 block of North Nevada Ave.

As part of the investigation, a search warrant was executed at another storage unit located in the 2000 block of King Street. During that search, detectives discovered stolen property from the original burglary in the 4200 block of North Nevada Avenue, as well as additional stolen items that had been reported from other storage units within the same King Street facility. Another search warrant was also issued for a residence on Garland Avenue where additional stolen property was recovered, to include a stolen firearm.

On March 3, 2021, the suspect, 34-year-old Tomasz Kellams, was taken into custody.

Throughout the entire investigation, detectives have uncovered several items believed to be stolen from other storage facilities throughout Colorado Springs. As detectives continue to work this case, we ask that if you are the owner of a storage unit, please take time to visit your unit and ensure nothing has been stolen and it has not been broken into. If you discover any missing items, or that your storage unit has been illegally entered, please contact us at 719-444-7000 to make a report.

Additionally, the CSPD has created a webpage with photographs of recovered property from this investigation. You can find that link here: https://coloradosprings.gov/police-department/page/recovered-property?mlid=49761. If you recognize an item to be yours and have a case report number, please email Sgt. Owen Scott at CSPDReturnedProperty@coloradosprings.gov with your case number and contact information.

Safety Tip: If you have a storage unit, it is always a good idea to keep an inventory of all your items and take photographs for your records.
