Park Hours and Rules

Thanks to the Safety Improvement Grant that the Colorado Springs Police Department received from the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice, Office of Adult and Juvenile Justice Assistance, SB22-01 – Crime Prevention Through Safer Streets, Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services installed 19 gates at Memorial Park’s access points to secure the park from vehicle traffic during night-time closed hours.

  • November 1 to April 30: 5 a.m. - 9 p.m. 
  • May 1 to October 31: 5 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Memorial Park

Prospect Lake

Visitors can enjoy a stroll on the 1.25 mile paved trail around the lake or get a workout in at the fitness stations located along the trail. The lake also allows fishing, paddle boarding, swimming and motorized use.

There are no lifeguards on duty, and swimming is at your own risk during designated swimming days – Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

The parks department is planning to install an aeration system to address issues with blue-green algae. The system is tentatively slated to be installed Fall 2024.

Beach House

The facility, located at 619 Prospect Lake Drive, provides indoor and outdoor learning spaces, an outdoor gathering area with boulder seating, a rentable indoor great room for community events, beach volleyball, a lit patio, accessible beach access, and food and beverage items for purchase from local concessionaire, Lakeside Dawgs. The public can also rent stand-up paddleboards for use in the lake.

Colorado Springs Velodrome

The Velodrome will once again offer track cycling programming to the public. Beginning April 1, 2024, programming will expand to four days and four nights a week including beginner classes and 18 race days. For more information, visit Community Velodrome.
