Media and people interested in the future of the Southeast side of Colorado Springs are invited to join a forum about improving the area. The Colorado Springs Gazette is hosting a panel discussion Wednesday at 7 p.m. as a follow-up to its recent Southeast series. The forum will include Councilwoman Yolanda Avila representing District 4 which makes up most of the Southeast side of Colorado Springs. Avila is excited to receive feedback from people in her district, “This is an opportunity for our citizens to be engaged in solutions for the Southeast,” she said, “It’s an exciting time because there’s momentum toward a grand vision.”

The discussion will take place at the Tutt Boys & Girls Club at 1455 South Chelton Road. A four person panel will talk about issues outlined in the Southeast series by the Gazette and will address solutions to the problems. A flier from the Gazette is attached to the original email of this release with extra information for your convenience.
Panelists will be:

  • Councilwoman Yolanda Avila, District 4
  •  Jeannie Orozco, Harrison District 2 Board
  • Jariah Walker, Colorado Springs Urban Renewal Authority
  • Commander Scott Whittington, CSPD, Sand Creek Division

For those who will not be able to attend, the Gazette will be streaming the meeting live on its Gazette News Facebook. Questions for the panel will come from audience participants both in person and watching the live stream.
