About
This project is located on South Cheyenne Canyon Road near the entrance to Seven Falls in southwest Colorado Springs. It replaces an outdated, load-restricted bridge under South Cheyenne Canyon Road and improves the Chamberlain Trail with a new pedestrian bridge over South Cheyenne Creek.
The creek passes under South Cheyenne Canyon Road through an existing corrugated metal and concrete arch built in 1957. The existing structure has deteriorated and is currently load-restricted. These conditions and flow capacity are the driving factors behind the bridge replacement.
The new structure will be constructed about 200 feet downstream from the existing culvert bridge. The new bridge will look similarly to the recently constructed bridges in North Cheyenne Canyon Park. As part of this project, the Colorado Springs PRCS Department is installing a trail bridge to allow Chamberlain Trail users cross the creek away from vehicles.
This project is a PPRTA Capital A list project approved by voters in 2012.
